Duo Barbedette-Quenderff

Delphine & Hoela copyright Sylvie Le Parc

Hoëla Barbedette : harp
Delphine Quenderff : double bass

Around fifteen year of complicity for the two musicians whose music seduced numerous audience…
A few words about their second album, plinn :
The Barbedette-Quenderff Duo continues to add its personal touch to creative traditional music. As in their first album, “Penhoat”, the two artists assert with a fine musical command their attachment to the popular repertoire of Brittany. With a delicate and inspired interpretation exploiting the special complicity of their strings, they prove that this music can adopt a certain contemporaneity without alienating itself from its roots. Asserting their adventurous spirit, Hoëla Barbedette and Delphine Quenderff weave bridges to more or less distant horizons…. Linking melodic fidelity and improvisation, they reproduce with infinite delicacy the memory of a Cretan lyre, a java or a tune from Ornette Coleman. In their hands, these horizons are not so distant from Brittany.

Duo Menneteau-Barbedette

A voice from central Brittany, a micro-tonal harp. Music with temperament.

Singer Eric Menneteau and harpist Hoëla Barbedette met in 2005 in ‘Norkst, the first Kreiz Breizh Akademi ensemble under the direction of Erik Marchand. They have been playing as a duo for a few years, offering a singular approach to carefully chosen songs from the Breton oral tradition, with a distinct modal colour – Hoëla uses a Celtic harp with quarter tone levers to accompany the songs’ unequal temperament scales – together with a fair amount of improvisation and sound inventiveness.

The creative, demanding and very mature work of a duo with shared passion and vitality !
