Hoëla Barbedette : Semitones and quarter tones lever harp

Olivier Catteau (Ormuz, KBA 6, Ducasse…) and Hoëla Barbedette met in the wake of the Kreiz Breizh Akademi project carried by the association Drom. Hoëla has long practiced his harp « augmented » with quarter-tone levers, and the day when Olivier had a diatonic accordion retuned to an unequal temperament, they saw it as an opportunity to combine their instruments

They built a dance repertoire based on collections but also compositions, exploring unusual scales on fixed-tone instruments such as theirs, and especially developing the sound of their duo, for a fest-noz proposal both grounded and renewed — the very essence of living tradition!
